How the clash occured during Church vigil – Police

One person has been killed during a clash between Oro worshippers and Christians in Lagos State.

The christians were holding vigil while the Oro worshippers were on parade when the incident occurred.

The spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development on Wednesday.

Hundeyin, in the confirmation on his Twitter handle, however, did not state when and where the clash occurred.

Platforms Africa, however, gathered that the incident happened on Wole Adetipe Street in Puposola area, Abile-Egba.

One of the Oro adherents according to eye witness account was sprinkling water to prevent ultimately deaths and diseases when he was accosted by the church promoter. “An argument ensued and he was hit by a coconut in the head which led to his death,” an eye witness who craved anonymity based on the sensitive nature of the case, said.

Hundeyin tweeted: “Oro worshippers clashed with church members holding a vigil.

“It sadly resulted in the death of one person.

“It’s clearly a murder case.

“Suspects have been arrested.

“But henceforth, how do we ensure religious tolerance in similar cases?”
